Are we able to get back to normal eating after dieting and achieving our goal weight? This is a question that I hear often. This question assumes that normal foods that you were eating before your diet were healthy and that what you are eating on your diet, not healthy.
I do understand this mentality since often, people were going on extreme diets to lose weight. If you are eating foods you dislike and not eating enough to fuel your day, you will be looking forward to resuming your normal eating.
Unfortunately, when you resume eating normally, you will also resume gaining weight. And yet, we will eventually settle down into normal eating. What does that mean for our weight?
It really does matter, how we talk to ourselves. When we define normal as what others do, we lust after their lives. When we define normal as what we do, we realize that we are already eating normally. Health and happiness take work. Make working on it part of your daily routine.

Has your doctor ever told you that you need to lose weight? My doctor told me that I needed to lose weight several times over the course of years. Every doctor's appointment after my daughter was about 4.
So what was I supposed to do with that information? And I mean, I know the idea was that I would lose the weight but how. It is so weird that I could see my doctor every year, for 11 years, receive the same advice, and the doctor never figure out that I'm clueless about how to lose the weight.
So was I able to lose the weight? Absolutely! Did my doctor help me to lose it? Not at all. And when I went in for my checkup, the doctor did not even ask how I accomplished the weight loss! No conversation, no acknowledgement, just a fast checkup.
Luckily for me, I'm more interested in being healthy than chatting with my doctor about my eating habits.

Are you feeling like you are doing everything right on keto but you still aren't losing weight? Why would that be happening? Often it is because we have done some research and have some understanding of what we are trying to accomplish but we do not have a deeper understanding of what our body is actually doing.
Woo, wow, Violet, ... What are you trying to imply.
Don't be hurt or insulted by that first paragraph. All I'm trying to say is that if you have just begun to do a new way of eating, you will only have a small amount of personal experience with how your body is reacting. Due to that, you are still being reactive rather than proactive in the foods you choose and the goals you have.
Doing something right everytime is a tall order to start with, I know that. What are the chances that everyday, you are actually eating your keto diet correctly while you are in the weight loss phase? Again, this is new behavior. Until you are fully fat adapted, experiencing the benefits, and certain about the sustainability, you are likely still wondering if it will work! And even when it does, you still won't do it perfectly.
Consider that most of us have been brushing our teeth since we've been toddlers and yet, I'm certain that most of us do not brush correctly every time. Do you actually brush for 2 minutes every time? Do you floss every time? Do you massage your gums every time? Do you brush your tongue and cheeks every time?
But many of us do brush good enough that we have not had a cavity in years! So what does that mean? We aren't going to be perfect because perfect does not exist. But we can do our very best each time to ensure our best chance at building a strong healthy body and achieving the weight loss we want to achieve.
