I was reading Food Fix ( https://geni.us/IwHd [Amazon]) by Mark Hyman and became enraged to learn that my life has very little value to food companies. Considering that the more food I purchase, the more money they make, you'd think they would be fighting to keep me healthy. But in fact, they are so confident that there will always be a new customer, that they are willing to sell the cheapest, least healthy food possible to maximize profit.
Their confidence that every generation will eat the poor quality food that they produce due to the lies that we are fed that these foods are healthy absolutely eliminates their need to care about their consumer. One question: Do you really want to pay someone to slowly guide you towards your demise? I know that I don't.
The US government needs to find a way to limit food lobbyist impact on the quality of our food. I would go as far as to say that the job of food lobbyist should be eliminated. Advocating for food companies to sell unhealthy food should not be a lucrative job as it entices people to put money before lives.
