The fiction we all believe about metabolic flexibility is that it is a permission slip to eat carbs again. But in fact, metabolic flexibility is not an excuse to cheat on your diet. There is a real definition, which is an organisms ability to adapt to the conditional changes in metabolic demand. This is a very handy survival mechanism and can be applied to many metabolic processes, including fuel source.
Now obviously, that does not mean that metabolic flexibility is sought after. It is a natural state that aids in survival. It is really important for everyone to understand that what our body is able to do is different than how it functions optimally. We can survive on 4 hours sleep per night but we thrive on 8.
Health and happiness take work. Make working on it part of your daily routine.
